Do More of What Makes You Happy

Saturday, March 25, 2017 12 Comments A+ a-

With all this recent talk about my mental health, I wanted to bring some positivity into it and not just ramble on about the downside of things.

For Christmas, my partner gave me the best present I could have ever asked for, The Happiness Planner. Due to my mental health and to be honest, the person I am, I know for a fact I can be such a Negative Nancy, so I felt having this planner would help me increase my happiness and focus on the positives in my days, so I wanted to share some good things influenced on my Happiness Planner and what I've discovered using it so far.

There was a few pages before the main daily entries which you'd have to answer, which one of them was listing what makes you happy and rating them on how much they make you happy. A few to list are reading books and planning.

With the main daily entries, you have to fill our the following:
Today I'm excited about:
Exercises:
Main focus:
Meals:
Schedule:
To do:
Notes:
Good things about today:
What I'm grateful for:
What I hope for tomorrow:

As you can tell from all of that, for someone who is as negative as me, would be really hard for me to fill out, but another side of me would hate to see these spaces empty, so I would think really hard, even for the most littlest thing to write in each section and taa daa I have officially thought of something positive to write, even if it is about the simplest or generic thing. I still found that thing in my day worthy to write about.

I have mentioned to my other half that I would prefer if he would never read this planner of mine, although he bought it, I felt I wanted this to be super personal to me and I didn't want to feel like I had to sugarcoat or as such knowing he'd read it at some point, and he respects that.

I am so happy to have such a thoughtful boyfriend and to have this planner to guide me in finding happiness in each day, even to think about the following day. It already mentally prepares me to do something more of what makes me happy, even if it is doing the same thing, reading a book or writing a blog post. It's not always the big things, I believe the little things add up more.

I will forever be grateful for my life and for my other half for always being there for me.

What are you grateful for today?

This is lovely! Sometimes it's so hard to feel positive but with the planner it means you'll appreciate the smaller things too!

I've seen a lot about happiness planners around the blogging community and it looks like such a great idea! I personally would find myself leaving pages blank or not keeping on top of it as much as I should but it is great that it is working for you!

This is really interesting. I keep thinking about writing a happy journal, but I'm not very consistent when it comes to writing every day, so I thought I'd keep a happy jar instead! (that hasn't been working too well either tbh....)

I've been eyeing up the Happiness Planner for ages! You're a very lucky girl your boyfriend bought it for you! I too am a 'negative nancy' and my mental health suffers.. I think it would be so good to 'force' myself to think of some positive things each day!
I'll have to invest in one!

Is that the Kikki-K happiness planner? I was looking at that the other day. Today I am grateful for the gorgeous sunshine that we have had and the beautiful blue sky! xx
